The Truchas Pre-School serves children from the communities of Truchas, Ojo Sarco and Cordova, Rio Chiquito and  Chimayo, providing supervision and appropriate curriculum for children ages 3 to 5 years old.

This program, which is not income based, provides social, developmental and language skills encouraging a successful transition to the public school.

The mission of the Pre-School program is "Children learning through playing".

The Truchas Pre-School is licensed by N.M Children Youth and Family Department as a child-care center and meets state licensing requirements for quality, health and safety standards. The center is licensed to serve 17 children and is fully enrolled.

Operating continuously since 1972, the program was initially called " El Lugar de Los Ninos", later becoming Truchas Daycare, with the emphasis on offering a preschool curriculum, the program became The Truchas Pre-School.

The Truchas Pre-School is open  Monday through Thursday 9:00 AM- 1:30 PM.
